St. Georges Youth Project
St Georges Youth Project aims to provide a safe environment for young people regardless of social background, where they can meet others, engage in conversation, be involved in decision making and enjoy.
Working within the Every Child Matters (ECM) Framework we aim to provide opportunities for young people to make positive contributions within their community these include enjoying & achieving, staying safe, all of which seek to promote health & well-being, preparing young people for the future.
Within our work we aim to raise aspiration within young people. Supporting them in making informed choices in life, helping them realise their potential and achieve personal goals.
We offer evening youth clubs 4 nights per week based at St Georges Church House, Lee Mount across 2 age groups 7-11yrs & 12-16yrs. We also provide a service to the rest of the community via our Community Project which runs an open house drop in every Tues morning.
Aside from our regular weekly provision we also delivery Holiday Club Activities & work alongside local primary schools by offering a one to one mentoring service to young people that require additional educational or emotional support.
We have a core group of young people that form our Youth Committee with a trainee leading on this, the idea is young leaders developing young leaders. The committee organise fundraising events, decide on project activities & programmes for the youth club & holidays continuing to build on our ethos that young people steer the project in their direction, having a say & making things happen.
